Tweaking PhpStorm settings
PhpStorm has plenty of settings you can adjust. Here are some ideas for adjustments you might want to do.
Adjust PHP home to point to the PHP you want to use.
Include Drupal as an external library by adjusting the include paths. This provides code completion and quick documentation lookup for Drupal core functionality. If your project already contains Drupal core files and folders, you can skip this.
Turn off unnecessary Inspections. Enable only the inspections that are relevant to your project.
Register Drupal specific files as PHP files.
Exclude folders you are not interested in. This will make indexing faster.
Make use of handy shortcuts such as:
- cmd + click on method: Go to method definition
- ctrl + J when focused on method name: Show method documentation popup
