Agile Project Management
Vitamin A is for Agile - enabling us to manage projects to a successful completion with less risk and more business value.
What makes us different from most other web agencies is our focus on the importance of consultancy and project management.
Projects are set up to succeed or fail before any programmer sits in front of a keyboard. We set our projects up for success by taking the right approach to managing them.
- Focus on what delivers value for the client, and for their customer in turn.
- Work in short iterations.
We break big projects down into phases or 'releases', and further break those down into two or three week 'sprints'. Having smaller parcels of work reduces risk, and keeps everybody focused on what needs to be achieved in that time.
- Deliver demonstrable real value in every iteration.
At the end of each sprint, your team will be part of a review of the work that's been done, including a demonstration of what we've achieved.
- Plan at the last responsible moment.
With complex projects, some details are unknown at the beginning but become clearer as the project progresses. Trying to plan everything at the start looks reassuring, but in fact it leads to higher costs and a reticence to change as new facts are discovered. We plan just before each sprint, so we're always working with the best possible information.
- Accept change as normal, and appreciate that it means we're nearer to delivering the best value for you.
As a project goes on, you'll find out things or come up with ideas that will require changes to the original plan. Most agencies will want you to fill in change request forms and charge you lots of money. Because we plan just before each sprint of work, it's easy for us to incorporate your changing requirements.
- Work with complete transparency and openness.
You and your team will be able to see all our project documentation, attend all our project meetings, have access to the code we're working on, and much more. This gives you reassurance, and ensures we all work well together to aim for the same things.
