Why is it racist or wrong to enforce our immigration laws? I have nothing against immigrants. I just want them to follow US law like the rest of us have to. Just because I do not like a certain law or think a certain law puts an undo burden on me and my family does not give me the right to ignore that law. Hell, I think paying taxes is an undo burden on my family, with all the paperwork and time it takes. But I can guarantee you that the Feds would be at my door if I just stopped paying or filing income tax returns. The same for immigration. You want to come to the country, great, come on over. BUT! Please follow the law. Is that so much to ask?
The guys over at Wizbang have a great post about Jorge Mora Ramirez, an illegal alien from Mexico who was arrested in New Hampshire. Apparently he has gotten himself a lawyer (paid for by Mexico?). Classic Liberal lines as this chick talks down to all of us uneducated slobs out there:
“The police chief is saying a person who is traveling on public roads has no right to do so if they are in the U.S. illegally . . .,” she said. “If you are from Milford, can you be on the roads in New Ipswich?” Movafaghi said. “Where does it end? The immigration laws make the determination on who’s here illegally, not the police chief,” she said.
Jay Tea from Wizbang gives a wonderful answer:
Here’s a hint, Ms. Movafaghi. If you are in the U.S. illegally, you are liable to be arrested and deported anywhere, at any time. There is no “goal” you can run to and tag. You can’t call “sanctuary” wherever you like.
And it ends at ILLEGAL ALIENS. If you are from Milford, you are most likely a legal resident of the United States and therefore not trespassing within the United States. If you are an illegal alien, you simply have NO RIGHT to remain here.
Wow! Such truth. It is wonderful to hear. I will be waiting to see how long it takes for Wizbang or me for that matter, to be called racists.
