One of the fun things to do with a blog is to take a look at what people are reading. Sure, you know most just read the main page. But it is fun to see how people found your blog.
I wrote a post quite a few months ago titled “Where In the World do the Dutch Live?” It was nothing special, just passing along some info about Holland. The funny thing is that I have gotten at least 10 hits in from Google by people searching for “where do the dutch live”. Who would have thought that my blog entry would be the first result displayed?
That got me thinking about the Dutch, Holland and the Netherlands. Why the heck does it have to be so confusing. Here is how it should break down, but for some strange reason it doesn’t:
1. If you are called Dutch you had better come from a country called Dutchland
2. If you are from Holland you should be called a Hollander
3. If you are from the Netherlands you should be called a Netherlander
See why people are confused? I hope this blog entry will now be the number one result for Google searches.
The answer to your question: The Dutch live in Holland, which is also called the Netherlands. I thought everyone knew that!
HA!

The Dutch are more than confused. They have a serious immegration problem. http://reelcobra.blogspot.com/2005/05/yes-we-have-no-bananas.html
So true. I wonder when Europe as a whole will wake up. Immigration is fine, but a large immigrant population that refuses to assimilate is bad news. I am afraid that it will be Eurabia soon.
