I have not seen the latest (last) Star Wars movie. WunderWife and I have too many kids and not enough babysitting favors left to be able to pawn the little ones off for an evening. We will rent it once it comes out.

I have seen all the movies and I have enjoyed them all. Here is the big disclaimer: Even though I scored a 67 on the nerd test, I never really got into them. I enjoyed them for the shear entertainment value of them. I never gave a flip about the overall story (although I despise Ewoks!). The story to me is not some holy cannon of the geek religion that must be adhered to in every minute detail. They are just entertaining movies. However, I know some people who do view these movies as sort of a religious experience. They seem to be disappointed by the last three movies.

I do think that Lucas’ overall story is wonderful, but these last three movies have left a lot of people with a nagging question: Is Lucas half as good as we all thought he was?

Anyway, Mean Mr. Mustard has a great post about Lucas that my geek friends will approve of:

Now my friend is a smart guy, so I had to assume he was looking for an explanation beyond the obvious “Lucas is a sophomoric tool who wouldn’t know good film making if it sodomized him with a splintery broomstick.” [emphasis mine]

And that I just couldn’t answer.

Could not have said it any better!

I am thinking of adding a contest for this site. Maybe once a week I can give out an award to the post I wish I had written the most. It can be called the I Wish I Had Written That Award….hmmm….I will need some graphics to make a jpeg award that I could send to the winner, where they will proudly display their hard won trophy…Anyone care to help?
