UPDATE: It appears I actually beat Michelle Malkin by a few minutes on this one….I agree with her assessment of this story on one part. Due to the fact he was a U.S. citizen with no warrants, they had to let him in. But my point is the money quote at the end of this post…I sure wish our border agents were this thorough with everyone they catch trying to cross the border…

Aren’t you glad that our borders are so well protected?

Via Cnn.com. It seems our top notch Customs and Border Protection let a man into the U.S. who was found to be:

carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood.

Our boys took his “tools” and fingerprinted him, but because there were no warrants outstanding on him and because he is a naturalized U.S. citizen, they let him into the U.S.

It turns out he had just killed two people over in Canada and was fleeing to the U.S. Way to go guys.

Luckily he was found later and arrested before anyone else got hurt.

Here is the money quote. Says Bill Anthony, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection:

“Nobody asked us to detain him,” Anthony said. “Being bizarre is not a reason to keep somebody out of this country or lock them up. … We are governed by laws and regulations, and he did not violate any regulations.”

Oh really? I thought that border patrol agents were being told not to arrest or deport people. But hey, “we are governed by laws”. So why not start enforcing them. I can half way see their point with this guy, but what about the hundreds of other people who attempt to cross who are never examined or fingerprinted?

Anyway, here is a picture of the guy…I for the life of me can not figure out what the big deal is *cough*…after all, he looks pretty tame…*cough*

    Nightmare at Border Crossing

Apparently, it’s just not illegal to be in possession of recently-used murder weapons.
