I find pretty damn hilarious the string "the volokh conspiracy comes in pints of rye beer" and can imagine more than one politically-minded blogger after an extended night of enthusiastic imbibing actually punching that into Google. I wish I could claim credit for crafting the sentence "Eric Norris is famous on the dinner theater circuit for his Hairy Giblet Helicopter act," but its creator is also its subject, a guy who says much funnier things constantly at work and threw that gem out there the day after I discovered Googlism. We were hoping to see it spring up in this list. No luck yet. If you enter my name into Googlism, the few results include "Steve Ely is responsible for the day." If you enter the name of Ken Summers, the results include "Ken Summers is 100% absolutly correct."

I am going to have to go with the “hairy giblet helicopter actâ€ as far as being funny goes. But as far as an actual phrase that seems to draw visitors to my site, nothing compares to “Where in the world do the Dutch live?” HA!

I didn’t comment earlier because I imagined when I read Ken’s earlier post it meant actual visitors had to have found the site through the #1 ranked Google result. Most phrases of mine that qualified that way are rather prosaic, and, I’ve discovered, Google doesn’t seem to be indexing some of my earlier posts anymore–I don’t know why. So I didn’t bring up, for instance, my former number 1 ranking for “Shrimp vs Prawns.”

I think I’ve caught on now. My site’s number one for “hairy giblet helicopter act,” though in fairness that’s only in there because I was trying to rig the Googlism results for a friend’s name the way Ken did for Google and the worm turd phrase.

It looks, though, like my site is at the moment also the number one result for:

Unexpected metafiction

Overachieving doppelgangers

and…

Prosaic search-results vein
