Update: (2:55 pm) Well we survived. It sure was a hot one today. The first manhole was in the shade and it was not so bad, but the second one…It was hot, hot, hot. My hands and knees were on fire. But we got the two flow monitors installed without losing any men. That is always a good thing. Now, if it will not rain until at least this time next week, then rain for a week solid…that would give me the data I need. Enough boring talk. Maybe I can find something interesting to write about.
Today will not be a big posting day. I will probably write a bunch tonight. So after you work hard all day, go home to the wife and kids and THEN come back and read my blog! You know you want to. If you do not read it tonight, you will be unable to sleep because you will be so nervous with anticipation. Or something like that.
Anyway. I am off to go play in dirty, smelling manholes in 100 degree heat….oh man this should be a fun day. At least I am not the guy who has to go INTO the darn things. No, I get to lie on my belly with my head in the hole while someone holds my feet so that I can attach the flow monitoring doohickey to the manhole steps. That is, if they are even still in existence. So don’t feel bad for me. Feel bad for the little guy we toss into the hole.
