Congrats To My Buddy

A buddy of mine, Stacy, better known in the comment section as Crotalus, won first place in our local paper’s summer writing contest. It is a darn good short story. He says he has a novel that has been underway for many years. I want to encourage him to finish it. Maybe you and I will both be able to one day do something we really love.

Since it is for a paper, I am not sure how long they will archive it. Until it goes away, you can go read it here. It is the third item down. There is also a nice bio of him.

In case they remove it in the future, I have added it to my Guest Essay section on the right sidebar. There you can read it and print a printer friendly version of it.

    Hey Wunderkraut!…What do you think about Pat Robertson’s latest on Chavez? I seem to be in the minority because I think it was a brilliant idea! Even though it is illegal. Am I evil to think what I am thinking?

    Thanks for the plug, buddy! I am working on that novel fast as the wife and kids will let me, sooooo… Actually I hope to finish the first draft by November and have it polished by the end of this year. That means I hopefully will start sending it to publishers in January, which means it will sit in the slushpile for oh probably three or four months and then, if it is deemed worthy, pitched, voted on and I might hear something back as soon as next winter. I think these days it takes about a year to hear back if you are a new writer.

    Jeff over at The Shape of Days has probably the best take on this issue. I must admit, I agree with his point.
