I backed into using WordPress. It was available as an add on from my site host, so I began using it. That being said, I have no idea how it works. I understand it uses a database to store all my posts and comments. I understand that the slug it gives when I make a post is based on the date and the title of the post. I even know how to back up my site….which reminds me…..

But I was reading The Shape of Days the other day and Jeff had a post about bloggers needing to fix their feeds. That got me thinking. I see the little RSS banners and Syndicate This buttons and Atomic Feed and XML, but what the heck does that all mean? Do I have feeds? If so, are they working? I am such a noob when it comes to stuff like this.

If anyone has the time and the know how, I would like to make sure my blog is all it could be.

Please help a noob.

That is all.

    Heh. You didn’t say n00b.

I am even more in the dark than you are, but I believe that RSS has something to do with getting notified when updates are posted to a site. Which is helpful if you monitor a bunch of sites. Someone like Drew Curtis, who runs FARK, would use it pretty exclusively, I’m sure.
