The reports out of Iraq the past three days have been pretty bad. Over 200 killed in terrorist attacks. Sounds bad, but if you look back over the past three weeks, things have been relatively calm. Except for the mass stamped that killed almost 1,000 people. But the focus has shifted from Iraq to the hurricane here in the U.S.

These new attacks should not fool anyone. It is not proof of a strengthening insurgency. No, not at all. The terrorists need to be back in the news every day. The hurricane has displace them from their top billing. How better to recapture the worlds attention than to launch new attacks, namely against women and children or how about this:

Ten Iraqis were killed and 21 were wounded Friday afternoon when a suicide car bomb was detonated outside a Shiite mosque in Tuz, just outside the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

These guys are SOOOOO brave. They blow up people going to worship. Wow! Their god must be so happy.

Anyway, another interesting aspect of all this is that the Left and the MSM went from pounding President Bush about Iraq to pounding him about the hurricane. Now that all the information is coming in about the total incompetence of the State and Local authorities, the Bush doesn’t care about black people meme is beginning to fall flat. The American people seem to be seeing through the latest attacks against the President. Then, almost on cue, explosions start going off all around Iraq. Now the MSM can resume pounding Bush on Iraq again.

I am not a right wing nut who scans the skies looking for black helicopters, but is there even the slightest possibility that the MSM is in bed with the “insurgents”? I know, you think I am a nut. Fine, but think about it. The MSM gets access to the terrorist attacks. They even appear to have advance warning. Yet, they do not alert the proper authorities. That makes them partly culpable for the actions of the groups they film. Also, the success of these terrorist groups in Iraq means that the MSM back home has more ammo to bash their number one enemy of the state, President Bush. More terrorist attacks in Iraq, bad for the President, good for the MSM and the Left. The hurricane made the MSM change tactics and the attacks in Iraq seemed to drop off. Or maybe the MSM just stopped reporting about them. Then all of a sudden the attacks start back up only after the MSM fails to pin the hurricane on Bush.

There must be more cause and effect than I am able to see. I doubt they are in bed with the terrorists, but now, nothing surprises me.

Just a thought.
