Global Warming may be happening. Why is it happening? It could be caused by mans action on the earth. Or it could just be the normal fluctuation of the earths temperature. I don’t know and neither does anyone else with any certainty. I am open to the view that mans action on the earth could be contributing to the problem, but I just do not buy that we are the sole cause of it all.
They say that things are warming up. They base this on records only going back a few hundred years. How can we predict with any certainty that this increase in temperature we are seeing is not part of some natural cycle? If we took every car off every road and closed every factory and every power plant, would we be able to stop the warming? Somehow I seriously doubt it. But if we did do the above, billions of people would die. From starvation and disease. Is that what the enviro’s want? They want billions of people to die, just so we MAY be able to stop or slow global warming? Give me a break.
Today I found a story about the further melting of the polar ice caps. The part the drives me nuts is:
Inuit hunters threatened by the melting of Arctic ice plan to file a petition in December accusing the United States of violating their human rights by fueling global warming. The Bush administration has opted out of the Kyoto Treaty to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Come off it already! So Bush pulled out of Kyoto. Doesn’t anyone remember that the United States Senate voted something like 98-0 to NOT ratify the treaty. What the hell do you want the President to do? Like I already said, even if Kyoto became a reality, the fact is that developing countries, like China, were not bound by it. Want to know why gas is so high, why steal prices are so high and why concrete prices are so high? Look at the growth in China. That is going to continue. They will one day surpass us in output of greenhouse emissions. Then who will the poor Inuit’s sue.
Besides, the claim that the U.S. is violating their human rights because of the weather is the most absurd thing I have heard. Maybe the people along the Gulf Coast can sue for their human rights being violated because of the hurricanes. Or maybe the people suffering from famine in Africa can sue because their human rights are being violated because it has not rained in several years. How can they even say that without bursting out in laughter?
But I can already see how this will pan out. Some Asshat judge will hear the case and will find the U.S. liable. Based on NOTHING! He will make it up out of thin air. The earth is getting warming, but no one can say under oath, why exactly it is getting hotter. The U.S. by itself has not caused this and the Left needs to look to China and India as the soon to be major players.
Give me a break.
