Syria: Minister commits suicide

Right….

Something tells me this will be another case of someone miraculously committing suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head while their hands are tied behind their back.

I have no doubt the Assad had him killed. It is most likely that Assad had Kanaan orchestrate the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. The UN was about to release the findings of their report on Hariri’s death. My guess is that the report would point the finger back at Kanaan and Kanaan in turn would turn on Assad and spill the beans. We can’t have that in a utopian dictatorship. Nope.

Here is the telling quote:

Just before news of Kanaan’s death, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an exclusive interview that Syria had no involvement in Hariri’s death, and it was impossible for him to have ordered it.

But, he said, if the U.N. probe concluded that Syrians were involved, then they would be regarded as traitors and should be charged with treason and face punishment, either through the Syrian judicial process or by an international court.

Yep, it sure seems like Assad just tied up the last remaining loose ends.

On a side note, how much do you want to bet that Amanpour really, really, really believes Assad is telling the truth? I can only imagine how she must have fawned all over him.

I forgot to tell you guys, that was me. I flew out late last night, offed him, and flew back in. Whole thing took less than 18 hours. Unfortunately, I didn’t do my exchange rates properly and wound up spending all of my fee on air fare. Damn them!
