CNN and NPR both had stories this morning saying that the violence in France seems to be lessening. Want to know what they cite as proof?
Well hell, those French policemen must be doing a heck of a job. They still had riots. They still arrested over 200 people, but by God, there were fewer cars burned. That is progress! It must be hard to fight rioters night after night when you only have a 30 hour work week. I wonder when the police will go on strike because they are like le tired?
Anyone stop to think that maybe, just maybe, there were fewer cars set on fire last night because…stay with me here…..there were FEWER CARS to burn? The worst night for cars was Sunday when over 1,400 were set afire. Each night before and after saw several hundred up to 1,000 cars burned. So, if they burned approximately 3,000 to 4,000 cars in the cities where the riots are taking place, wouldn’t it stand to reason that the people with unburned cars would get the heck out of Dodge?
But it is another incredible victory for the French. But it is kind of like winning by default. There are no more cars to burn, so the number of cars burned each night drops…..VICTORY!!!!!
France: Hey rest of the world. We have the situation under control. Nothing to see here. Fewer cars have been torched. We claim victory.

I don’t know why, but this post made me laugh. Just because of the absurd obviousness of it, I guess.
And a thirty hour work week? What the heck!

sounds like victory to me. Fewer cars means there can’t be that many more people who want to burn cars right. Its all very reasonable when you think about it….on second thought, maybe they should rethink their strategy.
