Just when I am beginning to settle into a mood of “maybe things will be ok after all”, good old Charles Krauthammer comes along and smacks me upside my head.

But, I guess it is needed.

I have written before about the whack-job “President” of Iran and his rantings about wiping Israel off the face of the earth. See here and here. Nothing new there. Many totally sane Islamic leaders say the same thing every day. *cough* But this nut case is different. He will soon have nukes. It also appears that he feels he has been chosen to lead the world into Islam’s version of Armageddon.

Great. Just great.

Referring to the Middle East’s penchant for wishing to wipe Israel off the map:

But none of these aspiring mass murderers are on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons that could do in one afternoon what it took Hitler six years to do: destroy an entire Jewish civilization and extinguish 6 million souls.

Iran is the exception.

To sum up:

So a Holocaust-denying, virulently anti-Semitic, aspiring genocidist, on the verge of acquiring weapons of the apocalypse, believes that the end is not only near but nearer than the next American presidential election. (Pity the Democrats. They cannot catch a break.) This kind of man would have, to put it gently, less inhibition about starting Armageddon than a normal person. Indeed, with millennial bliss pending, he would have positive incentive to, as they say in Jewish eschatology, hasten the end.

Israel will have to do something. The U.S. will have to do something. But if Bush acts, the Democrats will impeach him. So he can’t do anything. When the end comes to Israel you can bet your ass that the same Democrats who call Bush a liar and threaten impeachment will be the first to stand up and damn Bush to hell for NOT acting.

If Israel acts, count on the same Democrats standing in line to damn Israel to hell FOR acting.

These jackasses are going to get an entire country wiped of the face of the earth.

Look. This is not fun and games. This is not just politics. This is an entire country and people with over 4000 years of recorded history. This is the lives of millions of men, women and children you sick bastards. This is really about to happen.

My message to Bush: Do something. I don’t know what you can do, but by God you have to do something. You will get run out on a rail if you do nothing and if you do something. Do something. Lead. Get Bolton to hold up the UN. Walk out of the UN. Do something.

If you do nothing, Israel will have no choice. But they will not be able to complete the job short of a nuke attack of their own. Once they try to attack and the U.S. does not help them, then they will have signed their own death warrant. It would have been signed anyway, but….

This is big stuff people. Get your heads out of your asses and see past your political party and past whatever failings you feel Bush has.
