Son: Daddy, did you know that man who waved at you?

Me: Nope, never seen him before.

Son: Why did you wave to him?

Me: I don’t know. It’s just what you do.

    HAHA!

I love that - and why is it that we do that? I never do it on highways or highly populated areas but when I am in the country I do it every time, why is that?

Yep, while driving from Dothan, Al yesterday, I noticed that I had my left hand at the 12 o’clock position and would raise my two fingers every time a car passed. The funny thing is, almost all the other cars were doing the same thing.

This post conversation happened at home. Someone was driving down the street and they waved and nodded, so I did the same thing. My son was mighty curious.

This is part of a rural culture. In the city, the symbolic gestures usually only use one finger - but it’s still at the 12 o’clock position.

O/T - WK, when you deleted that spam from your previous post, you make my comment pretty… random. Heh.

    Hood,

    Yeah, I like random comments!

Are you getting hit with a Google comment spam bomb? It is slowly making its way through all my open posts….grrr…wish WordPress had a mass edit mode for turning comments off.

The only spam I get are the once a week FoxNews spam links. Haloscan makes it easy to delete them and hard for them to post. I also get email notifications when comments are posted so they don’t last long.

That’s funny. Today, I exchanged hellos with a mom pushing one of those sport stroller things. The little tot in the stroller asked the mom, “why did you say hi?”

I heard her begin to try to explain why as we diverged.
