No, I am not writing a post on Creationism vs Evolution.

Nope, this is a continuation of a theme that started with my post: “The Herd Has Been Thinned”

Here’s why:

U.S. doctors warn of poisoning from hand gels

Good grief. Don’t tell me someone’s been drinking the hand gel again? This goes along with people drinking mouthwash and such.

Evidently people misunderstand the labels that show the gels, foams and liquids contain alcohol,

Evidently? Evidently? No, people are desperate for a fix, any fix and they know they should not drink hand sanitizer. If they can’t figure that out, then oh well.

“The Maryland Poison Center was called about a 49-year-old, usually calm prison inmate who was described as being ‘red-eyed,’ ‘loony,’ ‘combative,’ and ‘intoxicated, lecturing everyone about life’,”

Yeah, that about sums up every drinking experience I have ever had. I am not sure that kind of behavior is due to the hand sanitizer. That’s called 7 Miller Lite’s and a Kroger frozen pizza on a Friday night. [on a side note, I need to post about that reference].

“Other inmates and staff reported seeing this prisoner drinking from a gallon container of Purell hand sanitizer over the course of the evening. ”

Holy crap! Look, that guy is not an alcoholic. No, he’s just showing how bat-sh*t crazy he is, so that he doesn’t become someone’s “bunk buddy”

But of course, the Nanny State comes to the rescue:

They suggested that makers of the hand gels change the labeling.

Um guys? Guess what? The GOVERNMENT MADE THEM put the labeling on their product in the first place.

Anyway. This may seem cold and callused but hear me out. There are people out there that are going to make spectacularly stupid decisions. There is no way to prevent all the stupid people in the world from hurting themselves.

If you believe in Evolution, then you have to see that the Government [worldwide] is actually stifling the natural selection process by preventing stupid people from offing themselves. Therefore they are still around to pass their genes on to the next generation. After all, isn’t that what evolution is all about? The strong survive and the weak die?

If you believe in Creationism, then you have a tougher time. Most who believe in Creationism have some sort of religious belief that teaches that one must love their neighbor and help others and do good deeds. So, how can one sit back and watch “natural selection” take place without trying to step in to prevent it so that the stupid person in question may be saved and placed on the right path. Everyone deserves a second chance and all of that?

So I am left in a quandary. The Government should not be responsible for making sure you and your stupid self are protected from every little danger. But there are reasonable demands that Government can place on industry to protect us against our idiotic impulses. But where do we draw the line?

Eh, I say bring back the Darwin Awards.

Editors Note: Stupid people is a generic term used to describe people doing idiotic and dumb things that get them either hurt or killed. It is not used to talk about people with mental illness or other psychological problems. That would be mean.
