Look, I don’t like McCain, but I like Hillary and Obama even less. He is basically Democrat Lite.
This entire election season is shaping up to be a giant disaster. The Republican Party is toast. They have walked away from almost every basic Conservative principal and are going to lose even more seats in the House and Senate.
*sigh*
Anyway, we are left with McCain. I will vote for him because I feel he will do less damage to the country than the other two.
Diana over at File It Under has a hilarious video up. Go check it out.We need a new slogan to get McCain elected.
The best part starts at -1:16 and goes to -1:06 (minor language warning). When you find yourself in the voting booth trying to decide the lesser of two evils just do as the video says.
I can just see the McCain bumper stickers now…

McCain ‘08 - “All shall vote for me, and despair!”
On a more serious note, I’ve heard the silly rumor (which quite naturally seems to have started in Mike Huckabee’s neck of the political woods) that President Obama would be a necessary punishment for the United States.
I think that this theory is about 162% crap, because I doubt they think the resulting “turning back” towards the Lord involves nothing other than pulling more “R” levers, prefereably with the Huckster’s name alongside. BUT, if I am thinking in purely partisan terms, I think that President McCain could work along similar lines, in the same way that a vaccine of cowpox kept kids safe from smallpox.
If anything is going to finally re-energize the base, it will be four ugly years of ol’ Maverick pulling a flyby on every core principal of his party. I don’t think they’ll necessarily vote in Democrats to the Congress in protest - instead they’ll start venting against establishment Republicans in the primaries, and go for a younger, Jindal-esque crowd; admittedly less experienced but as a result also less cynical and corrupt by the DC groupthink.
I saw that too Nightfly.
I think that it is a load of crap that a Democratic President would be “punishment” for the U.S.
There is a certain group of evangelicals who actually want things to get worse because they feel it will be fulfilling a prophesy and usher in Christ’s return.
Rest assured, Christ is coming back, but to sit around hoping that all the sinners get what they deserve so you can go home to be with Jesus is incredibly selfish. Christ left us a job to do. Not to sit around hoping things get worse so he will have to come back sooner.
Gah.
Well said Mike!
