Heard a good Nirvana song on the way to the Post Office this afternoon.
For someone like me, being 18 when Nevermind came out, I can’t tell you how earth changing Nirvana was. You hear about it when VH1 does their “I love the 90’s” shows, but it’s the truth. It’s easy to say it now and most don’t realize the overall importance of that album.
When Nirvana was thrust onto the scene, everything changed. Everything. Hair bands who were selling out arenas suddenly found themselves with no more hit records, slumping sales and often times, no contract. It was that sudden.
I remember one of those VH1/MTV shows where they interviewed the lead singer of Warrant. He said something along the lines of one day there were posters of their newest record on the wall of their record label. The next day, there was a poster of Nirvana.
Every time I hear a Nirvana song, I’m taken back to late 91 and spring of 92. I remember putting Nevermind in my car radio for the first time and hearing the wall of sound. It was so different.
Anyway, here are two good ones.
Lithium
I once new a girl in college who was on lithium…strange girl.

What is this song all about?
Can’t figure any lyrics out
How do the words to it go?
Can someone tell me, I don’t know…
Well we don’t sound like Madonna
Here we are now, we’re Nirvana
Sing distinctly? We don’t wanna
Buy our album! We’re Nirvana!
