UPDATE: Now we are terrorists.

In response to all the talk about turning in law abiding Americans to the White House for daring to express themselves (see here and here), I feel this picture perfectly sums up this administrations position:

meh, don’t see what the big deal is.

To me this is a big deal.

Let’s start with my position. I am against a Single Payer healthcare system. I am also against a government option.

Looking around at other Single Payer systems it seems that the people are generally dissatisfied with their plans, that the government rations care/drugs, that needed operations (knee and hip replacements) have long waiting lists and that bureaucrats have too much say in the type of care you receive.

A government option which would compete against private insurance companies is not a good idea because no one can compete against the government. The government does not have to show a profit and has unlimited resources (so to speak), so private insurance would go out of business, leaving only a Single Payer System

So, I am against what the Democrats and Obama are pushing, which is the government option. What is really disingenuous in this whole debate is that at their heart, Democrats and Obama want a single payer system but they know they cant get there in one step.

How do I know this? They said it themselves. See here and here.

Due to these videos the White House has gotten its collective panties in a wad and is now claiming Obama did not say what he actually said. That is typical, but then they went beyond that and started claiming that the people demonstrating against this are all paid shills of Evil Big Insurance. They have started to say that these demonstrations and people voicing their opposition to Obamacare are kind of dangerous and are not armed with the facts.

To that end, the White House set up a web page with a special email address to send in information on people spreading false information…such as the two above listed videos…

What they plan to do with this list of people is unknown, but this strikes at the heart of the First Amendment.

In the 8 years of Bush, did he ever do this? No. The man had many faults, but he never set up a government website for people to turn in their fellow citizens who are practicing their constitutional right to free speech. If he had, the Left would have been rightfully upset.

I dont want ANY President, Republican or Democrat, collecting data on law abiding citizens who happen to be voicing opposition to the plans of the administration and Congress.

    It’s just wrong.

Not only is it wrong, but it is dangerous. How far are they willing to go? When does America cease being America? Maybe this is just fuel for paranoid conspiracy theorists. I don’t know. I’m pretty dumb about politics, but I don’t like the direction our country is heading. I’m thinking that during the next elections we will see how disgruntled the American people really are. I’m hoping we are collectively disgruntled enough to kick some politicians out on their rears.

Here’s how to automatically send a growing daily stream of junk email to flag@whitehouse.gov:

    1. Set up a special gmail account (mail.google.com) just for this purpose.

    2. Under “Settings->Forwarding and POP/IMAP”, select “Forward a copy of incoming mail to”, then fill in flag@whitehouse.gov

    3. Then sign up for a bunch of free, email-generating web services (eg. GoogleAlerts) using the gmail account.

    4. Tell your friends how they too can automate the revolution.

Hit back ten times as hard. Every day.

“A government option which would compete against private insurance companies is not a good idea because no one can compete against the government. Well I honestly believe private insurance shouldn’t be profitable only because it is becoming more of a necessity. Private insurance companies, like any other business, has an obligation to raise profits but also cut costs for themselves. Where and when do private insurances draw the line when it comes to cost saving measures?

Let’s face it, private insurance companies are raising costs, cutting back on benefits, and hurting small private businesses. I also personally question their ethics when it comes to quality of the treatment their insurance holders receive. It just seems that the health care issue in the U.S. may not have a perfect answer, but regulation needs to come in at some point, this is just becoming ridiculous.

“…that the people demonstrating against this are all paid shills of Evil Big Insurance. They have started to say that these demonstrations and people voicing their opposition to Obamacare are kind of dangerous and are not armed with the facts.”

I don’t believe they are paid shills, however it would be silly to assume that these insurance companies are not making use of their collective political muscle via lobbying and whatever war chest they may have. These guys do have the financial resources to help those who already see it their way. It’s messy. It’s politics.
